New painting in watercolour called Herne the Hunter- an old Pagan God - also known in different guises as The Green Man, Pan, The Horned God and Cernunnos - he is the hunter, sexuality and life cycle no less - what a guy!
Latest painting based on Greek mythology - The Phoenician princess Europa was abducted to Crete by Zeus. Europa was collecting flowers in a seaside meadow when she came upon a beautiful white
bull, she decked
its horns with flowers then climbed on
its back. Whereupon the bull - actually the god Zeus in disguise - took
off at a trot and dove into the sea. Europa was carried off to the
island of Crete, where she became the mother of King Minos.
In my painting she is escaping from Zeus' clutches, taking flight on a beautiful horse.
Went to the Barbara Hepworth museum in St Ive's whilst on my holiday's - such a beautiful, tranquil place, loved it, especially her studio, which looked like she'd just popped out and would be back any minute to get back to work.
Also just finished my new website http://www.sallyfryer.co.uk would really appreciate feedback as I'm sure there are a few niggles with it!
Off to Cornwall on Saturday, preparing to be inspired and can't wait to go to St Ive's Tate to see Barbara Hepworth sculptures and I hope lots of Alfred Wallace paintings.
